Tips for Success using a Mandibular Advancement Oral Dental Device

 

  1. Morning Jaw Reset Exercises (Perform Immediately After Removing Device)
    Open your mouth slowly as wide as comfortable. Hold 5 seconds. Close gently. Repeat 10 times.
    Move your lower jaw forward, hold 5 seconds, then return to your natural bite. Repeat 10 times.
    Move jaw gently side-to-side. Hold 5 seconds each side. Repeat 10 times.
    Lightly tap back teeth together 10–15 Ɵmes to help re-establish your natural bite.
  2. Routines with TMJ Pain
    • Apply a warm compress to jaw joints for 10–15 minutes before exercises.
    • Perform gentle opening only (avoid wide stretching).
    • Place your tongue on the roof of your mouth while opening to control movement.
    • Massage jaw muscles gently in circular moƟons for 2–3 minutes.
  3. When to Call Your DenƟst
    • Jaw pain lasƟng more than 60 minutes after device removal.
    • Persistent bite changes or difficulty chewing.
    • Clicking, popping, or locking of the jaw.
    • Headaches or facial pain that worsen over time.
